I make no apologies for loving 'Superman III'

Yeah, yeah, I know — Richard Pryor in a giant cowboy hat, weirdo computer villain at the end, fake kryptonite laced with tar ... as far as I'm concerned it's all forgiven for giving us Barfly Superman.

Besides, it also yielded such fanciful illustrations as this movie poster for the film's release in Poland.

I think posters like this — which seem to be more the norm in some European countries — are a lot more interesting than the static poses we get in the States. What do you think?

Superman III gets props from me for the far-more-terrifying-than-you'd-expect scene where Robert Vaughn's sister gets turned into a robot.

Somewhat cheesy, but man, the actress sells it hard.

It is pretty creepy! And I think you hit on part of the reason I dig these movies so much — everyone kind of just goes for it and embraces the craziness.

I'm ashamed to admit that I've never seen Superman III.

That, and I liked the "Director's Cut" of Superman II MUCH better than the original theatrical release!

You should check it out — it's really not as bad as people make it out to be. My absolute favorite part is the Superman/Clark Kent throwdown in the middle of a junkyard. The end of that fight, in particular, is fantastic and fills my nerdy heart with glee.

I just saw the Director's Cut of Superman II recently, and I dug it. There were two things that bugged me though, so maybe you can clear it up for me.

First, the Lois-shooting-Clark thing seemed a little out of character (especially since the Lois-jumping-out-a-window scene was so iconic and classic). And wouldn't have Superman realized they were blanks?

The other thing that bothered me was Superman using the time-changing trick again, but apparently it only affected Lois and her memory? How'd that work? And if everyone did forget what had happened, why did Clark go back and beat up the trucker? Wouldn't that seem to come out of nowhere to the trucker?

Still, I'm glad it got rid of the hand-beams and showed what happened to the Phantom Zoners; I always wondered about that.

It makes me sad that the great Christopher Reeve got bogged down in such a lame Superman movie (two, actually).

I got soooo mad when I listened to the SIII commentary track, where the producers talk about the original plan for the movie--Brainiac, Kandor, etc. And instead we got...Richard Pryor skiing off a building. Yeesh.

That said, that poster is made of win!

I'm actually surprised no one has tried a Brainiac movie yet! I wonder if the robot lady at the end of Superman III was all that was left of the original idea?
